A Morning Treat ~

A friend is coming over this morning to see the garden, so I thought I would make us a little treat to have with a cup of coffee as we meander the garden. My favorite coffee cake is Merk's Coffee Cake, a vintage recipe from the first Los Angeles Times Cookbook.

It is so easy to make and is that perfect combination: brown sugar, nuts, cinnamon and
butter ~ yum! The addition of sour cream in the batter gives a very light texture.

This makes a nice size cake and will stay fresh for several days...it even seems to improve with age.

Some things never seem to get old ~ Enjoy!

  10. First of all thank you so much for visiting me and for your LOVELY comment on my work. I love making those lace lamps and I'm happy you love them, too!

Second...you are in Southern Cali and that is my home state. Living in Oklahoma means lots of clay soil/dirt and extended planning in regards to what to plant. We ave harsh winters at times and sweltering summers, too. Today we are under tornado conditions and we are bracing ourselves for anything or maybe NOTHING!

Thirdly...just have to tell you delicious your cake looks and how wonderful you are sharing it with a sweet friend. My favorite thing to do...

Lastly...when I got to the end of your post and saw your name I smiled BIG! Our daughter we is 28 is named Adrienne and I just LOVE HER NAME. Loved it from day one and everyone who meets her love it (and her!), too! Sometimes I call her "Adrie"...but only ME!

Anyway...sorry to write so long...just had to pop in and return the favor with a visit. I'm your newest follower!

    Blessings~Rebecca
