A Little Treat ~

I have been busy with chores here at Rose Arbors, mainly in the garden, but last week I decided to take some time and give myself a little treat. So when I found out that the Chanel makeup artist was coming to Nordstroms I signed up for a consultation and a make-over.

It was nice to sit and be pampered, I liked just about everything she used...especially the foundation,  power blush and the lipstick; I came home with the foundation, I don't use foundation on a daily basis, it isn't needed at the gym or in the garden, but there are those times when I want to look a bit more polished: a little goes a long way, plus it doesn't have a heavy feel and she matched my skin tone perfectly.

And now I want to tell you about another product

This isn't Chanel and there is a whopping difference between the price of this nail polish by Covergirl in it's look-a-like Chanel bottle, and Chanel nail polish. It was part of a give away when I bought some mascara and much to my surprise it is excellent, which I didn't expect at the price. It comes in great colors and really does last. If you wear nail polish you might want to give this a try and at only $5.00 a bottle you can splurge.

Here I am after my make-over I thought I would take a photo and share it with you. Miss Twiggley hardly recognized me!

If you haven't tried a cosmetic/skin care consultation lately you really should...it was a fun little treat.

Thank you for visiting

Après la Pluie ~

It rained last night, a lovely rain. Here in our hot, arid climate rain is always welcome.

This morning when I came home from my walk  I wandered the garden and thought how lovely everything looked, nothing improves a garden like rain...the grass is always greener...

colors are more vibrant...

everything is fresh and clean...

and when the sun comes out, all glows ~

Even though not much is blooming in my garden right now the rain makes everything look lush and pretty. Thank you nature, and...

Chanel and Camellias ~

Camellias do very well in our climate and I have quite a few bushes in my garden. They are all very old having been here when we bought the house. Because of their age many are as tall as trees. Each year without any special care they faithfully sent forth beautiful blooms...a sample which you can see below.

I like them all but my favorite is this very large, loosely petaled one, the color is exquisite: a soft, creamy white with yellow stamens.

I have been picking them to bring in the house, this cute little three part vase is perfect for arranging them. Here they are adding beauty to a hanging shelf in the dining room.

White camellias always remind me of Coco Chanel. When I was in France with my granddaughter we visited her shop on Rue Cambon ~ every purchase is put in a bag decorated with a pretty white, artificial camellia. As you can see my bottle of Chanel Number Five is halfway gone...it is my favorite scent.

Don't you agree that these are absolutely Scrumptious!

Thank you for visiting, I hope you have a little floral delight to lighten up your day.

Bad Boy ~

You're very cute but you really need a little TLC and that includes a slight cosmetic change...you see green just isn't the right color for my kitchen.

Now look at you! Much better...yes, black is definitely good; I am glad I kept the cream detail.

And I love you under this painting.
Parfait!

Although this commode is new the painting: Bad Boy, painted by my very talented sister Jacquelyn Haag, has been in my kitchen for a while and I have been looking for something to put under it...it is a small space and this commode via my brother (I have such wonderful siblings) was just right!

I think they compliment each other...what do you think...I think that Bad Boy is very pleased.

Thank you for visiting ~ I hope you have a happy day.
