Succulent box ~

Getting everything put away after the holidays seems to have taken more time this year. It didn't help that my basement was flooded by our recent heavy rain storms not just once but twice. I appreciate the rain, it is so badly needed, and I expected to have some problems with my roof, but not the basement.  Life is never what you think it is going to be. For now the problem is fixed and I hope it doesn't happen again.

After all of the decorations were finally put away safely, the house looked pretty bare, especially the kitchen. I decided that January would be the month of succulents and silver...more on silver in another post. I hadn't used the box I made for a while and what better to do then plant it with succulents, perfect for the sunny, west facing, shelve under my kitchen window.

It fits the space but still leaves room at each end for Miss Twiggley to sit and enjoy looking at the birds in the orange tree outside. This is one of the spots I plan on putting one of the new bird feeders I got for Christmas. I think it will provide her with lots of entertainment.

I really like succulents as house plants, like orchids they last for what seems like forever and then you can plant them outside. I always use cuttings from the garden and this is just another way to add more. And...they do look quite pretty!

I hope your new year is off to a good start.

Thank you for visiting.

  1. Your succulents look so pretty in the wooden box. It's always nice to have live plants inside, especially during the winter months.

  2. Your box looks so good in the window. Yes, we really had quite the storm. My lattice on the fence is falling down. Need to find someone that can fix it. Always something to fix or do a home. Your right the house looks bare when the decorations are taken down.
    Have a relaxing Sunday.

  3. Sorry to read about the water in the basement. That's Always a problem when it rains heavily and I'm glad we didn't get it this season, even though we've got plenty of rain!!

  4. The box looks gorgeous! I'm not a big fan of succulents, but I think your arrangement looks lovely. I like the shelf at your kitchen window, it's perfect for a window box.

  5. Your succulent box is stunning, especially in the light coming from the window. I always find the house looks rather bare after the Christmas decor is taken down, and fresh plants or pillows or something help to make the transition.

  6. I'm so sorry to read that you've had 2 floods in your basement. I hope nothing was too damaged. Your window is such a beautiful space. Miss Twiggly really does have a lovely view. She's going to be heaven with a personal bird feeder view.

  7. Hi Adrienne, I just thought this morning that I haven't visited for awhile and know that I missed out on all your pretty Christmas so went peeking back. Very pretty, as I knew it would be, and I loved Miss Twiggley in front of the window. She is such a little beauty. Your succulents looks great in the box and Miss Twiggley will be the big winner when those birds come around your new feeder..Happy Thursday..Judy
