Un Plaisir Attendu ~ An Expected Pleasure

Every year in February my magnolia trees start out the month leafless; the flower buds just starting to form...

...at first there isn't much to see, quickly this magically changes until the trees are covered with the fuzzy buds waiting to unfold...

...in all their magnificent beauty!

Then for a few weeks they light up the late winter landscape with their flowers while the new leaves gradually appear.

This is an expected pleasure, but my, such a wondrous one!

I hope your garden is filled with expected pleasures, especially as Spring grows near.

  1. They are gorgeous trees with lovely flowers for sure! I spent the day working chopping down dead stuff. Now I know it will freeze again. I just couldn't stand looking at it any longer. Depressing it was. Tired I am. But love looking at your photos!

  6. I love those magnolias, and they show their beauty so early in the year! That came as a surprise for me when I moved here. Your pictures are pogeous, I especially like the one with the chair. I'd love to sit there, sip some coffee and get lost in a book.

  7. Well, I meant "gorgeous", not pogeous! My fingers were faster than my brain...

  13. And that is how the forsythia blooms here. I wish that a magnolia would think this zone were a good place for blooming. I love your cozy garden scenes.

  14. Good Morning Adrienne Sweetie...
Oh what a fragrant post this morning. I love the magnolia trees. They are so elegant, and their dance is so beautiful how they gradually perform in to a full bloom. The dance of LOVE.

I could bring my book, curl up in that chair with the quilt and spend my morning beneath the tree of LOVE just reading away. Thank you SO much for sharing with me sweet friend.

Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  32. There is a tree, right around the corner, which I believed was a Magnolia tree. Now I see it is!! It is the exact same tree as in your pictures, only that one around the corner is not well taken care of. Sad. It is a beautiful flower. Yours is absolutely gorgeous.
