I don't know how many of you have experience working with clay but it is a long and frustrating process; first waiting for the object to dry properly so it won't crack, then the first firing, the glazing, and finally the second and last firing. All this while never really being able to predict how it will turn out and trying patiently to wait for your turn in the classroom kiln.
Well they are finally done and last weekend I put them atop two fence posts marking a gravel pathway in the front garden. Ladies and Gentleman may I present to you my two new hippity- hoppity friends...Flopsy and Mopsy!
finished and awaiting the first firing |

ReplyDeleteThese are amazing! how talented you are! Like knitting, I have always wanted to learn how to work clay, but the one or two classes are available only during work hours, and cost a fortune. How frustrating! I think I would love it! would I possess the necessary talent?, well, that's a different issue ;o)
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely results. Congrats!

You should continue with the classes, I want to see MORE! I used to do ceramics "WAY BACK WHEN". and I DO know "The Wait", hehe! You are so excited to see things and you just don't know how they will turn out. You really should continue though...Thank you for sharing with us.

I love your Flopsy and Mopsy! They look great on top of the fence post. I am partial to rabbits because we have always had a pet rabbit since my youngest daughter (now 28) was 8 years old. Her first bunny was named Flopsy! My current pet is named Sparrow. So I love anything whimsical for the garden that has to do with rabbits! Great job!
ReplyDeleteAdrienne, these are fabulous! What beautiful pieces!
ReplyDeleteThey are wonderful ! You have a talent, can't wait to see what comes out next ! 5 stars

You made these? They're perfect. And what a unique idea -- I love 'em! I went to school at Margarita Johnson's School of Organic Education where pottery was a required subject (along with folk dancing -- Ha!) It's been years but you make me want to play around with some mud again!
ReplyDeleteHow very clever! It makes me want to try something unique and hand-made for our garden.
ReplyDeleteUm, no, I've never done much with clay, but I know I could NEVER create something like these. You are good! Cute, cute.
