Something New

I finally decided to buy Adobe Photoshop Elements 9. Although I have had lots of fun and some success using different editing programs like Picasa and Picnik and will continue to do so, there are just so many more things I think that I can do with Photoshop...adding textures to my pictures for one thing. So off to Costco I went...

I also couldn't resist buying this publication. I probably won't be adept enough to apply some of these features for a while, but I didn't think it would hurt to dream a little. And it comes with it's own  tutorial disk.

But the big coup is finding this excellent book at Borders. It guides you visually, step by step, through each feature in  Photoshop. I know that I am definitely a visual learner, so this should be just the help I need.

So... can you guess what I am going to be doing this weekend? If any of you have any tips, opinions, or suggestions on using Photoshop Elements you would like to share that would be great!

  3. Wow! Great minds think alike, my friend. And to think we share the same name and think alike! Incredible. My sweetheart is headed to work for a few hours with instructions to stop at Costco afterwards to buy Photoshop Elements 9 for me! I think it will be a good 'recovery' project since I have time I don't usually have to study and play and learn. I can't wait to see what you do with your photos.

  4. I got photoshop about two months ago and love it - but I am learning by trial and error. Thanks for the tip on the book, I think I need to buy that, going through the tutorials on line and trying to find exactly what I want is just too time consuming and frustrating. You will love photoshop!

  5. I have a great suggestion. You learn all about PS and then you can teach us. I have "Photoshop Elements 6 - The Missing Manual" which is supposed to be very good. It probably is, if I'd use it - heh...

  10. I can't help with Photoshop, I haven't progressed beyond Piknik, but I wanted to thank you for your visit to my blog, which in turn led me back to yours, which I love so much I'm joining as a follower. (That was a very long sentence! Whew!) I loved the photo of your chandelier a few posts back. It is a very rainy day here in Cape Town, and your beautiful photo has inspired me so much that I'm going to spend the moring playing around with some of mine. Have a lovely day. x Sharon

  12. You'll have to let us know if the "Teach Yourself Visually" book is as good as it is purported to be. I'm in desperate need of SOMETHING that will teach me all the how-tos for Photoshop.
