Boxwood Epergnes

I have been trying to cut down on so much glitter and glitz in my holiday decorations this year by using lots of natural ingredients and re purposing things I already have. I was inspired by a Boxwood Christmas  arrangement in silver epergnes that I saw, and this is my interpretation. I don't have silver epergnes...sure wish I did...but I do have these lovely crystal ones.

I really like the combination of the Lady Apples with the Boxwood. I nested the apples in moss allowing some to creep over the edges. I saw some wonderful ideas for moss decorations in the Christmas edition of Jeanne'd Arc Living. This is the first time I have purchased this magazine and I am very impressed ~ costly, but beautiful!

The table runner is an old lace curtain valance. I never throw away anything lace!

Apples and berries; red and green ~ perfect for Christmas.

To tie the centerpiece in with the rest of the room and add symmetry I included one of my blue and white ginger jars.

Great! I had all of this and it was fun to put it together. Have you been changing your decorating style this year...mixing it up, re purposing, or maybe using new colors? Whatever, I hope that you are having a good time doing it.

Thank you for visiting and...Happy Holidays

  1. Natural beauty in all its glory. What a great idea! Sometimes I find tangerines with a few leaves still attached and put them in a glass bowl as decoration.

I haven't changed anything this year about our decorations except I did get rid of lots of cheap decorations last year, so those things are no longer hanging about. Thank goodness :)

  3. Nicely done. It's not my style, but it's perfect for who I think you are. It looks great. I enjoy your enthusiasm for it and committing to it fully--there's never anything half-done with LVQ.

I did two posts on my neighborhood's decorations and the one thing I noticed is the lack of magnolia, seems it's just vanished. I love the dark green and deep furry brown of its leaves. Add a red or gold bow, and instant holiday!

  10. Beautiful. You've given me an idea for my silver footed bowl.
This year I'm pulling out only the old, tried and true - only the things that link us directly to our family and Christmases past. No glitter here except for the light from the tree.

  12. Hello Adrienne:
Understated elegance, absolutely perfect. Your idea of using only natural ingredients in the arrangements is something with which we can readily identify. So much nicer than the artificial. The blue and white ginger jar is a winning touch and really brings everything together with the rest of the room. Lovely!

  24. I have never heard of the Jeanne d'Arc magazine - need to look out for that. Your creation is beautiful, I love that some of the moss is creeping over the edge. Your lace is fabulous - so so pretty.

  27. I think the theme this year has been to go more rustic and natural and I am no exception. I decided in the fall to go this route and am happy that I used more boxwood and natural elements. Your own simple and elegant decor looks very pretty. Love that you used an old lace curtain. Mine got used as tree skirts! Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday season!
