A Bit of this and that ~

It has been a very busy weekend. I have managed to get quite a few things accomplished.

I finally, finally, finally, finished painting the trim in the guest room and now I can hang the new drapes.

I got all of my favorite pink Zinnia seeds planted.

This is the first time I have used one of these Pro-Hex trays. It comes with 72 planting cells, a tray to hold water, and a clear top to retain moisture and help germination. I should be able to plant the seedlings right into the garden without transplanting them first, which should be a real time saver.

Baked a batch of my favorite cookies.

In my opinion, along with an early morning walk, having a homemade cookie to eat is a important ingredient for a good day, and chocolate chip cookies are definitely my favorite. I have made them so frequently that I don't even have to look at the recipe.

And, I went to the Chrysanthemum Show at the Arboretum.

My hope is by fall these little starts will provide me with more gorgeous flowers like the ones in the picture below. Two of them are a pale yellow, Primrose Mt Shasta. and two of them are white, apply named, White City.

I am definitely experiencing chrysanthemum love.

I hope that your weekend is going well too.

Thank you for visiting.

  1. You certainly have it right about your cookies making a day perfect Adrienne! I so agree! I love the color you painted the guest room too.
That bouquet is so pretty...the colors are stunning together. I have missed some of your posts and so it was good to catch up with you my dear. Everything is beautiful at your house as usual :))))

  2. You have really been busy, but have accomplished a lot. Those cookies sure sound good about now with a nice cup of tea.
Your flowers will be lovely in the fall. They make such wonderful bouquets.
    Have a great week.

  3. Your pictures come out so beautiful, may I ask what camera you use?

    1. My camera in a Nikon SLR and I use Picasa 3 for all of my editing. I really do not use my camera to its full potential but I just purchased a 24 lecture course from The Great Courses that I hope will encourage me and help me take better pictures.

  4. Oh such pretty things are happening in your home...
it's so inspiring and always a pleasure when I see a new post from you Adrienne.
And now I'm craving a chocolate chip cookie!

  5. I gave up carbs yesterday morning and was drooling over a choc chip recipe by 6 p.m. so I agree with you completely. Your room looks lovely even before your finished with it.

  6. You've had a busy week. I can't wait to see your guest room drapes and how the room comes together.

  7. You have been a little busy bee. I am sure all your hard work will pay off. Your guest will enjoy a lovely and welcoming room and you will enjoy those pretty flowers come fall.

The picture of the flowers in the silver pitcher is truly stunning. Thanks for stopping by. I loved your sweet comment.

  8. You certainly have been busy! I am really looking forward to seeing the guest room's final transformation. So much work goes into these types of decorating projects! The zinnias and chrysanthemums will be great additions to your already lovely garden.
Your cookies look yummy! I wish I had one right now to go with my coffee!

  9. The kitchen cabinets with glass fronts behind the cookies are wonderful looking. I have glass cabinets and am lost at how to stage them. Could you please do a post on how you arrange the pretty things in your glass cabinets?
