Let the Fun Begin!

Oh my gosh...this is downright scary! What could possible be in this spooky place? Dare I venture down there to find out...well okay, maybe I will. Call someone to come and get me if I don't come back.

Aha! A treasure trove of decorations and most of them are for Christmas. Now lets see just what do we have here...I guess I will have to haul it all up and see.

Wow this is great and there's even more down there. Let the fun begin!

I am fortunate to have a small basement in my house, very rare in Southern California, and as you see it is not very pretty, but a perfect place to store most of my holiday decorations. Although the boxes are all labeled, in order to get it all better organized I am thinking about getting different colored containers for the different holidays. How, and where, do you store your holiday decorations...any good ideas? Please leave a comment and let us know.

Happy Decorating!

  1. I bet you'll have a blast rediscovering all your goodies!! I know we sure do... "Oh we had that?" hahaha Thankfully we have an attic in the new house. Not very big but VERY helpful

  2. Can't wait to see all your goodies and what you do with them! I'd hate to show you all our holiday tubs. It's almost embarrassing how many tubs I own for each holiday. I should steer my car away from all craft/thrift and antique stores based on the volume of tubs I own. But I'm weak and slightly addicted to decorating for the holidays. Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. I can't wait to see all your holiday decor!!! :)

I have different colored containers for different holidays. In this house I'm very lucky to have a storage shed...that's where all my holiday stuff is stored. Nice and out of the way.

  4. We have a tool shed for such things although the 20x40 barn could certainly be used. I still miss having a basement, though.

By the way - I love nasturtiums and plant them every year re: your last post.

  6. Wow, what an assortment! I can't wait to see your work!

We USED to store our decorations in the room that caught on fire. Ever see a melted angel before?

  7. I'm sure that your decorations will look beautiful.
I store our Christmas deco (two containers plus the Christmas village) in our garage. I just have to move a few things to get them. Still a pain.

  10. I store my Christmas Decs. in storage bins with red lids, that way I know it's for Christmas. Your decorations look wonderful! Thanks for stopping by my blog today.

  11. well - the Santa ornaments are upstairs (above the towels & sheets); the artificial condo-sized tree is in JPE's storage unit (a mile away); the holiday plates are stored in the cabinets over the washer & dryer; the misc decorations are stored in the girl's storage unit (across from JPE's unit - also a mile away)... condo living requires creative storage. Most are in clear plastic tubs... oh, JPE'S nativity figures (minus Joseph - he fell off the mantel & broke last year, leaving Mary a widow) & creche are in a box wherever JPE put them last year... Talk about pain in the ---- getting the decorations out! BUT, I love Christmas when everything is finally up! decorating Saturday November 27th...

  12. Hi Adrienne,
I purchased red rubbermaid 18 gallon containers over the years for all my Christmas decorations. Likewise, for Halloween and Thanksgiving I purchased orange, for Easter pink and any blue container in my attic houses my childrens keepsakes.(all boys=blue). This way I always know what season of decorating is in the containers. Another very important piece of advice, I always purchase the exact same containers, they stack perfectly that way.
