My apple trees are blooming! I have several different varieties, all have been hybridized for our warmer temperatures, which means that they require less hours of chilling to produce fruit. I love apple trees as much
for their ornamental quality as for the fruit. I prune them to keep them relatively small to make them easier to manage and to bring out the beauty of their structure.
I think that these branches look so pretty against the stone wall.
In the back garden this row of apple trees has been planted to act as a screen.
Soon I will be having have lots of these!
And don't forget... "An apple a day keeps the doctor away"!
I love apple blossoms. They usually bloom around my birthday in West MI near the end of May. It's comforting to see their pretty pink blossoms. It's usual a signal that the school year is winding down. Thanks for the Monday morning inspiration!
ReplyDeleteApple trees are not that common around the city. I saw, though, when I was a little girl, one in my uncle's wife orchard. They lived in a mountain, which I assume gave the tree enough of the required cold weather. I was so enchanted by the orchard (with vegetable beds and plenty of fruit trees) that it became one of my dreams. Not true just yet, though :o)
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely apple trees! Indeed, they look pretty up against the stone wall.
