Plaisirs Simples ~ The Old Window

.
Simple pleasures, one of life's joys. Today my simple pleasure is this old stained glass window hanging amongst the roses. I love glimpsing it throughout the day as the light changes in the colored glass and it gently sways in the breeze.

What was your simple pleasure today?

  1. Hello Adrienne:
The play of light on coloured glass can be quite enchanting and magical. Your stained glass window looks to have given you much enjoyment in the day when, we are certain, that at every look a different pattern is produced.

Only recently we met an artist whose work is almost wholly concerned with the restoration and renewal of Victorian stained glass. Your post today reminded us of her and her marvellous kaleidoscopes.

  2. My simple pleasure is the soft scent that lingers from the soap that I have used in my bath this morning....

I am enjoying the images on the header...your pink roses are so pretty.

  5. Such a beautiful window. What a romantic touch in your garden!! My mother used to make stained glass creations and I was always in awe of how much work and time went into them. Whipped cream in my coffee before work was my simple pleasure this morning.

  6. My simple pleasure was my morning coffee. As it is every day after a bowl of cereal. I have a stained glass window and haven't ever hung it up. Or if I have, have long forgotten. I would love to see the glints of sunlight through it.

  11. It is very lovely among your roses. I have a very large one and it hangs on my patio facing west. It looks so beautiful as the sun is setting
    and also in the moonlight.

  16. What a lovely, lovely question. I will have to go with a calico cat I spotted in someone's yard as I stopped across the street to get the mail. She lifted her head more or less alert at my approach but as I whispered at her to go back to relaxing through the windshield, she did just that. She looked so languid and at rest, half-closed eyes like milky jade.

  17. I like stained glass. My parents used to collect it when I was growing up. Have you ever made your own pieces?

I think having a nice pot of tea on a rainy cold day has been my simple pleasure lately. That and cuddling with my doggies.
