Fresh From the Vine

A few days ago I met two of my favorite people for breakfast. Not only are they interesting, generous, and just fun to be with, but two of the most knowledgeable gardeners that I know; with their combined years of experience and expertise they are my 'go to' people for any gardening advise. After eating and visiting we walked to their car to pick up some grapes that they had brought me from their garden. When I saw the grapes I thought...how beautiful these are, far too pretty to eat, first I need to take some pictures! So when I got home I got out my camera and...

These are Concord grapes, luscious and succulent for eating, and wine making. They have seeds and the skin is a bit thick, but what taste! To me these plumb, juicy clusters conjure up thoughts of Roman banquets and images of Bacchus...a feast for the senses.

                                                       Thank you Ralph and Barbara.

And thank you also to all my blogging friends who joined me for this post.

  1. Hello Adrienne:
These grapes do indeed look absolutely delicious. As you say, they really do conjure up images of Bacchanalian feasts, the bloom on the fruit giving it such an opulent quality. What fun to have photographed them with the wine and the gilt framed painting, but we hope that you have now succumbed and eaten every last one!!

  3. Absolutely gorgeous still life photos, Adrienne!

Concords do well in Missouri, where you can see them growing along the roads in MO wine country. There are stands along interstate 44, with grapes, juices, jams and jellies, available this time of year.

We plan a wine and cheese supper on the back porch this evening. Cooler temps are here, perfect for this sort of meal.

  4. Boy, you are right, those grapes are photograph worthy. I know that they are already pretty, but you set them up in the photo to be even more beautiful!

  5. You're right, there is something about grapes that just cries out to be painted, or photographed or arranged into a centerpiece. These are worthy of a pretty fancy cheese platter.

  7. I really love the photos of these grapes...my father picked grapes for a living up in Central California, so we were fortunate to be able to try different types of grapes growing up. ;) By the way, thanks for stopping by my blog & commenting!!! :) Take care & have a great day!!!

    XOXO's,
    Jessie

Those are my favorites! They are almost to pretty to eat though... almost. lol I wanted to let you know that it was a French doctor that figured out this disembarment thing. What kind of medicine did they give you? Was it for your ears? I have taken everything they can think of for inner ear, but mine is for sure in the brain, so they did not help.
