Holiday Door Bouquets

Over the past weeks I have been cutting the very last of the fall blooming roses, and various herbs to to dry for the winter months. I thought it would be nice to make bouquets to hang on different doors throughout the house. They will be a nice addition to the holiday decorations and add a lovely scent as I have included lavender, rosemary and sage along with the roses. This one is on the door going into the master bedroom.

At one time I dried many kinds of flowers and herbs and then for some reason stopped doing it...

...now this year I have returned to making potpourri, and now these bouquets.

Next spring and summer I plan on planting more things that will be suitable for drying. But for now...

I think these will add to the festive atmosphere of the holiday season and will be in keeping with the more 'natural' I decorations I am planning for this year.

I hope that you are having a good weekend, I am sure that many of you like me are starting their Holiday decorations...isn't if fun!

Thank you for visiting.

  1. Such a gentle touch to your holiday decorating - I like it very much. Today I'll start by collecting the fir and pine boughs that have been blown down by the terrific winds of the past few days. Some will have to dry in the garage for a bit before I turn them into wreaths and garlands for doors and gates. I'll do a little every day, until the 11th when we'll put up the tree and sit back to enjoy it all.

  3. Your dried bouquets look quite pretty hanging on the doorknobs. I think this is a lovely idea. It is a bit of a Victorian touch!

  9. Adrienne, how do you dry your flowers--just hang them up to dry or do you use a drying agent?

The roses have kept their colors so well.

  22. So pretty (and romantic)! Organic elements are always lovely (I just wish things like pine boughs would last longer). I did a posting with examples of natural baskets and planters I observed at a garden center last weekend. It smelled soooo good!
I'm sure your home is going to be gorgeous if this is a sample of your taste!!
