The Beautiful Lady Banks

Every year when the branches on the trees are still bare and the bulbs are in the midst of blooming it happens...the beautiful Lady Banks rose blooms. Sometimes, like this year, she catches me completely unaware; I went outside to put something in the shed and this glory greeted me...

I really don't know how old this rose is, it was here decades ago when we bought the house and now covers the entire arbor and spans at least 30 feet ~ that is with rigorous pruning every year. This is not a timid plant but my such a lovely one! Another signal to me that Spring is definitely here.

Thank you for visiting, I hope you have a lovely surprise in your day.

That is so awesome! I would love to have an arbor fully engulfed by such lovliness!

Makes one wonder who planted it there, and what a story it may have.

  7. I had a Banksia that covered the entire front of my house when we lived in Sedona. It's a shame it doesn't bloom longer. I've tried to get one going up here in North Idaho many times, but no luck. I'll keep trying...

  15. I am so sorry...I clicked on delete by mistake! Here's what I think I said...

Your garden is always so lovely. Lady Banks is a prolific bloomer and you have such an amzing plant. We are so fortunate to live in southern California and be enjoying some warm spring weather right now. I do wish we would have some rainy evenings just to supply the earth with some much needed water. However, with what other parts of the country are experiencing I know we should count our blessings. I look forward to seeing more of your beautiful garden as spring gets closer.
I hope you are having a lovely weekend.

  16. Hi Adrienne,

Oh that is quite lovely!!! Ahhhh, I so wish I had a garden half as beautiful as that!!! We just moved in last summer and well, there's not much to be said about our nonexistent garden! ;) But yours is truly lovely indeed! Take care and have a marvelous day!

    Hugs,
    Jessie
