This little table and two chairs sit in the farthest reaches of the back garden. They have gotten terribly worn and several times I have been tempted to toss the whole set in the bin. But somehow I always decide to keep them...they are just so cute, and it does make a nice destination spot to walk to.
As you can see it really needs a new coat of paint, from all of the blogs I read, shabby and chippy is in...
...but for me, I like fresh paint and I have the feeling that paint might be the only thing that is holding these together, so this weekend I will paint all three pieces again and keep them for another year.
Do you have something past it's prime like this little group that you just can't bring yourself to throw away...it's funny the things that work their way into our hearts.
Thank you for visiting.

What a sweet oasis. I always make my husband come peer at your outdoor entries. Such beautiful inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI love your bistro set - and what a gorgeous setting they reside in! You have gorgeous spaces!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am not too heavy into chippy either, but I think your set is perfect like that. Glad you are keeping another year.
Glad you're keeping the garden set--I like it! And, it's in a beautiful setting. Enjoyed looking in on your world.
ReplyDeleteYour question made me giggle. I have to put paint and lotion on my face every day to keep from scaring people. :) Seriously though, I'm not one to keep items that are starting to deteriorate. I wish I could, but I'm an "out with the old, in with the new" kind of person. I'll bet this set will look awesome when you're done with it.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are keeping the set. I think it is wonderful as it is. But I'm sure it would look great painted too. It's in such a beautiful setting.
ReplyDeleteHello Adrienne:
ReplyDeleteYou are probably going to hate us for this, but we think that your little table and chairs are absolutely perfect as they are. Not only do we love the colour, but also the way in which they have that wonderfully weathered, distressed look which is, we feel, often so very difficult to achieve. But it is you who lives with them!
I know how much you just LOVE those shabby chic weathered finishes!:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice little corner to sit and sip a glass of iced tea! Love the pergola too.
ReplyDeleteA lovely destination!! Larry
ReplyDeleteWell Loved and used pieces have such Character that I am always drawn to them over the new and pristine. You can Imagine a Story going with pieces that show the Patina only Time can Create. I think your little Bistro Set is Lovely and Inviting, I Hope you decide to keep it for many more years.

What a cute bistro set! I like the freshly painted look as well. Blue seems to be really popular now. What color will you paint them?
ReplyDeleteI love this little nook and your table and chairs. I have several things past their prime and can't part with them!
ReplyDeleteIt is not quite the same, but I feel similarly about a few pieces of china that I inherited from my Mom. I am not fond of the pattern, but am reluctant to through them away because of the with family history. I honestly think as a society we are too quick to garbage things. I think you little set of chairs and table will look great with a fresh coat of paint.
ReplyDeletePlease show us how they look with their new coat of paint. I love this worn look and the setting of it - it looks like I could sit there, enjoy a glass of lemonade and a good book.
ReplyDeleteThere is a children's chair that we bought from IKEA when my daughter was little and we were still living in Germany. It used to be red, but now it's more like a fading pink, some places there is no paint left at all. But still I keep it.
It may be old and worn but it sure is cute. Looking lovely as always over here. Hope your enjoying your summer so far ~Love Heather
ReplyDeleteWhat keepers! And what a lovely place to sit and have a drink/read a book. Your garden is beautiful all four seasons!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful corner of your garden. The set is perfect and the new coat of paint makes them look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI love your garden set and the location is heavenly. I really like the color and the distressed look of it but I understand that sometimes we want to be comfortable without peeling and worn paint to scratch us. Either way, it is a lovely set in a lovely garden. I look forward to seeing what color you paint it.
ReplyDeleteI snickered...pretty much all my decor is past its prime...but I like it that way!
