Making drapes ~

Over the past few days I have been working on the new drapes for the guest room.
It has been a while since I have made drapes and I had forgotten what a chore it is to work with such large pieces of fabric.

So far I have the decorator fabric all cut out and sewn together in two large panels.

Now I will cut out and assemble the lining. The lining is much easier because there is no pattern to match.

Next, I will sew the lining and the drapery fabric together, put on the headings, attach my gorgeous fringe trim, make the pleats, and attach the rings.

Then, voila! They will be ready to hang.

After this making these the new cover and pillows for the daybed should be a breeze.

Thank you for visiting.

  3. They are going to be beautiful. I have made so many drapes and you are so right, so much material to work with. Can hardly wait to see the finished product. Have fun and your right, the pillows will be a breeze to make. Enjoy your weekend.

I lugged home 15 bags of mulch today and then had to unload it. Hope I can get out of bed tomorrow. Hopefully this will help the flower beds, stay moist as mine look terrible. I was ashamed in my post about the Spring flower gardens looking so bad. The gardener will fill in the beds on Thursday. Yea, as I couldn't do it - to heavy for me.

    1. Thank you. And yes, I made the toile shades, so easy and fast to do and very economical as far as fabric. Hanging them is a bit tricky, but not too difficult.

  5. It's going to be beautiful and worth all the hard work. I wish you could come help me make drapes, too! Did you make the roman shades in your guest room? They are lovely. I'd like to do something similar for a couple of windows in my home but I haven't slowed down long enough to do that! I can't wait to see your finished drapes.

  8. That is some really beautiful fabric. You are obviously a very talented person. I have a few questions. Did you have a pattern to follow? Did you do it free hand? How much fabric was required to create those beautiful drapes? I've always admired people that have sewing talent. I'm sure everything is going to turn out great.
