A perfect start to the day ~

Every morning is a little different for me depending on what I have lined up for the day, but my perfect morning starts with...

a few minutes of yoga - sun salutations to limber up, clear my mind, and give me an energy boost.

Then out for my morning walk. I always try to get in at least two miles. Walking every day is the basis for all of the other fitness activities I enjoy. A daily walk is so important for good health and it is so easy to do. You don't need a gym or any equipment other than good shoes and it can be a time  to get in a little meditation or listen to a book or music. I like to listen to Coffee Break French podcasts.

Then coming home to Miss Twiggley and a simple breakfast, always with a pot of freshly brewed tea, soft music, I favor Mozart in the early hours of the day, and something else very important - the Los Angeles Times crossword puzzle, I feel very deprived if I don't get to do the puzzle.

Everybody has their own routine but for me this is a blissful way to start the day.

It is the simple things in life that make it so enjoyable don't you think?

I hope that your life is full of lovely mornings

Thank you for visiting.

  1. What a great way to start the day! I don't practice yoga, but the walk, the tea and the crossword are all part of my morning before I head to work.

    1. This is just another thing we have in common, LOL. You should give yoga a try, I think you would like it.

  2. For years, I used to walk in the early morning with my mother for 3 miles. It was wonderful. When we first started, we walked around the corner and had to sit on the curb panting to catch our breath, and we ended up laughing at ourselves so hard we cried. But everyday got a little easier until we capped our walk at 3 miles in 45 minutes. She's almost 89 now and still doing well while everyone she knew (including her doctor and his wife) is long gone. I think it was the walking that kept her so healthy.

    1. I totally agree with you! It is so nice to hear that your mother is doing so well. My mother walked also and I know that it was very beneficial for her - she lived to be 101, most of it in excellent health.

  3. Your morning routine sounds wonderful. In Oregon I find it hard to keep my routine of early morning walks in the winter when it's raining. I'm trying to bundle up and get out there and remember that I won't melt!

  4. I think you have a wonderful morning routine. Mine is a bit different- starting with me standing at the coffee maker silently praying for it to "hurry up". I sit with a cuppa and watch the news to see what I need to change in the world (lol). I think YOU have a much better routine than I do.

Have a wonderful Sunday- xo Diana

  5. Adrienne, I am somewhere in the middle between you and Diana (above). Probably more to Diana's side! But I do have to do the daily Sudoku puzzles in the paper. I do walk but not as much as I should. Happy Weekend..Judy

  7. Your routine sounds lovely...I try to walk everyday, and several times a week practice Yoga.
Coffee is the first thing on my morning list...a steaming bowl of espresso with foamed milk...which reminds me of the cafes that I sat in while visiting Paris.
I will have to explore the French coffee break podcasts...
