Looking out ~

"It is not possible for a house to own a spirit without owning windows with flowers."

One of my greatest pleasures is being able to look out a window and see my garden. I am fortunate in having garden views from almost every room in my house - some of course better than others.

I took these pictures one afternoon from the windows in my entry hall and living room. The sun was shining, the roses were starting to bloom and in my opinion it looked quite lovely. The bonus from this view, all of the imperfections, notably weeds, were unnoticeable and the flowers were glorious.

Actually in a design sense this is a good thing to do, as it gives you an opportunity to see and judge a garden from a completely different perspective. I have made several changes in my landscape based on observations made this way.

But the best part is just to be able to enjoy the beauty of the plantings. We talk about borrowed landscape in garden design, well I consider windows with garden views as borrowed enrichment to interior design.

I love to bring flowers into the house for bouquets and often do so but it isn't quite so necessary when right outside the window you can see this!

I hope that your day is filled with glorious views.

Thank you for visiting.

Adrienne

  1. Hello fellow gardener. Your photos are making me crave for the real Spring weather to get here. I have roses, dahlias, and a myriad of plants and flowers to plant soon, but Minnesota weather is not cooperating. To be able to look out the window and see these beauties is such a gift. Enjoy your garden views.

    1. So nice to hear from you. Yes, we certainly live in different climates. Soon when it is a warm and balmy day for you this coming summer I will be complaining about the heat and trying to keep everything watered.(-: Right now though it is really lovely here. Good luck getting everything planted...I too have some dahlias waiting to be put in - not because of the weather but because I have been lazy!

  2. As always, beautiful gardens. When I came home from the hospital last night I couldn't believe how so many of my roses are in bloom. Everything is magical.

Had to go to the ER with heart problems. They will be doing a new procedure on me to open up my valve. Just waiting on the approval of my insurance.

Loved looking at your studding gardens.

  3. Oh...I am so sorry. I hope that the procedure will go well. Will your son be coming down to be with you? It must be very frightening.

This heat certainly doesn't help anything, it is far too soon for it to be this hot. I hate it!

Sending my thoughts and prayers for a fast recovery and many beautiful roses in the days to come.

    Take care.

  5. Adrienne, you are so right! What a treat it must be to see your beautiful garden from your windows. My windows are mostly too high to see much of the garden at one time but take a seat on the porch and they all come into view. I've got a lot of work ahead of me this summer to get a garden as lovely as yours, but I might try!..Happy Wednesday..Judy

  6. Your knowledge of what to grow and where to grow it is what makes your garden one of the best I've ever seen. It must be heaven to look at and see those beautiful flowers.
