Winter Wreath

In order to dress up the front porch a little after all the glamour of Christmas was stored away I wanted to make a new winter wreath, one that would reflect the season... that meant no lavish floral display as my garden is in the midst of pruning and there are few flowers in sight. So this how this wreath...

became this one!

Michael's was having a great sale on all of their succulents... so I used them to add color in lieu of flowers

I already  had the greenery; the tassel, well I thought it added a touch of whimsy.

Once again the finished product. Incidentally I love this door it is original to the house and has this charming little window in it that opens to peek out.

How about you... have you added any new outdoor touches to see you through the winter months?

  1. Your wreath is stunning. Our climates are in such contrasts with each other right now. It's fun to enjoy your glimpse of the world while we are covered in snow. I'm hoping to tackle a new shabby looking wreath for my bedroom mantle later this week. Have a great week!

  13. Hi Adrienne, thank you for your comment on my antique bed photo. I actually use an older program called "photoscape" I downloaded the free version years ago and use it for cropping, brightening etc. But it has a feature that is called "filter" and when you click it, it has an option for antique, which gives you an antique film effect and much more. I can email you the link to download if you would like, you can reach me at highstreetcottage@gmail.com
Love your pretty photos, I have not thought of putting succulents on a wreath, very very pretty! xoxo tami

  17. Your wreath is a beauty! I've kept up my glittered twig wreath with "ice" crystals. And my bird bath is just one chunk of ice--does that count? ha!

  18. Are you an interior decorator by trade? If not, you need to be! Your wreath is stunning! I love succulents myself. What a fabulous way to show them off. I'm thinking you just spritz them with water to keep them alive? I can't use those in my garden now as it's 11 degrees right now with snow on the way. :( Waaah! Thanks for sharing Adrienne!

  27. I love seeing all that greenery on your door. Everything is so bleak and drab around here currently. It's great to see something so bright and cheerful. ;)

Thanks for linking to the party. It's delightful to see your projects each week.
