Les pêches ~

For some reason the peaches have been extra delicious this year, to me peaches speak of summer and are best enjoyed when in season.

They could of course be used to make jam, a pie, or even grilled, but I think that I enjoy them the most simply cut into a bowl and savored for their freshness. And of course...

they are very, very beautiful!

Speaking of peach pies, my mother-in-law Lola who was a wonderful cook made the best pies, the one I remember the most is a peach pie she made for a picnic lunch that we had on the road up to Yosemite one summer.

She got up early that morning to make it and when cut into it was still warm...utterly delicious.

Thank you for visiting, I hope you are enjoying the bounty of summer.

  2. Adrienne, fresh peaches are one of my favorite things about summer. I remember growing up in the country and the vegetable man came around selling fresh produce in his truck. My mom always bought peaches by the bushels. Some were canned, some for peach cobbler and my favorite, homemade peach ice cream! Your luscious peaches helped me relive those warm summer days in the country with sticky sweetness running down my chin.
    Big hugs,

  3. My very favorite pie is fresh peach pie. I could eat a whole one by myself with vanilla ice cream on the top. Oh boy.... There is nothing like fresh peaches. My mother would can them and then she would make peach cobblers in the winter time - such wonderful food then. She canned everything.
    Have a great week.

  6. Hi Adrienne,
I'm visiting by way of Donna's Mourning Dove Cottage blog.
What a beautiful place you have here and the photo of your peaches is gorgeous. I love nothing better than a fresh peach in the summer. Your peach pie memory is so sweet. That pie sounds delicious.

  7. Adrienne, I've had such a lovely look through the posts I've missed - the beautiful dress you made, the lace curtains and your beautiful kitchen island. I have saved a copy of your island for my files, as it is very much like what I'd like for our new house. I will post a photo one day!
