Rain and roses ~

We have been getting rain. Lovely, lovely rain.

A few day ago I received a delivery of some David Austin Roses: Princess Alexandra of Kent. This rose came highly recommended to me by a member of my gardening class as a good pink Austin rose suitable for growing in Southern California.

I love David Austin roses but some of them don't do really well for me and take a while to reach their full potential. These however are very robust looking with large, strong canes and I think they are going to be excellent performers in my garden.

I just love the box these come in

In anticipation of the predicted rain I got them all planted a couple of days ago and hopefully in a few months they will be full of blooms similar to these.

There is nothing like a good rain to get new plants off to a good start, here we appreciate every drop and according to the weather man over the next few days we might be getting more.

Thank you for visiting and thank you Carol for helping me pick out just the right rose.

I hope you all have a glorious day.

  1. Some rain, how lovely!
We really need some here in East Spain too!
I just adore those roses too!
    Have a lovely day!

  2. You have the most beautiful garden. Thank you for sharing!

  3. Love your new roses - they are beautiful and will be stunning. I thought that we would get more rain than we did. But, I guess we are getting more on Monday. My roses are full of blooms and my iris's are blooming. That is a little early for them, but I will take whatever I get.

    Have a great week.

  4. Adrienne, I need to poke around and look at all of your garden posts. It looks so pretty. I had David Austin roses at our first house and the ones we had smelled so good. I can't remember exactly which varieties we had...I just remember the old fashioned look and smell. Heaven. :)

  5. I hope you get that promised rain, Adrienne. Your garden is so very pretty. As I plan our garden I find myself studying some of the photos you've put up in older posts. Thank you for the inspiration.

  6. Adrienne, I love David Austin roses and the one you picked is absolutely beautiful. Your garden looks so pretty and none the worse for wear after the dry spell. So great that we are getting the long overdue rain and hope it keeps up for awhile..Happy Wednesday..Judy
