Summer fun ~

One of the best things about summer are all of the fun, free concerts in our area.
I went to one last week at the Los Angeles State and County Arboretum. Concerts are held here every Friday night during the months of July and August. Admission free if you are a member, and standard admission price if you aren't.

The gates open at 5:00pm for picnickers and the music starts at 6:00pm. Its nice to get there early and find just the right spot to have a glass of wine and eat before the music starts.

It is so beautiful here and to add to the enjoyment the
The resident Peacocks are out in full...one came up to me while I was eating and daintily pecked at a piece of bread in my lap.

The music is fun and casual, varying from week to week.

The sunsets are glorious.

A typical Southern California event, complete with palm trees.

This weekend I am trying another type of outdoor entertainment, Shakespeare in the Park at Griffith Park, I have never been before so it will be a bit of an adventure. They will be performing one of my favorite plays, Taming of the Screw. Shakespeare outside on a summer evening doesn't that sound great.

Thank you for visiting, I hope you are having a wonderful summer.

  1. How wonderful that you can enjoy all these outdoors entertainments. We have a lot of those as well, but somehow I seldom get there. We have an outdoor Shakespeare as well, they play Romeo and Juliet in the ruins of the old cannery - which is in the courtyard.

  2. Your summer venue sounds so great. I have loved when I have gone to the Greek Theater and the Hollywood Bowl - simply wonderful. Went to a winery down in Vista area for a Jazz Festival and so so good and then we had dinner - i loved it.
    Have a great weekend.

  3. One of the nicest things about summer here is the abundance of outdoor concerts and plays. We, too, have Shakespeare in the park - on the slope over the ocean. We have had a marvelous summer, so evenings have been perfect for taking in some of the events.

  5. That does sound so great, Adrienne. It just seems so old-fashioned and wonderful. Peacocks are so beautiful but I think I would be a little taken aback if one came to eat out of my lap!!..Enjoy the show!..Happy Monday..Judy
