The gift of rain ~

On Friday mornings for most of the year I meet with a group of other gardeners at the LA Country Arboretum, our class is called The Compulsive Gardeners. Yesterday our topic for discussion was a sharing class on what we have been doing in our homes and gardens to conserve water.

Well....

something we did must have worked because last night we were gifted with wonderful rain.

It was a soft, steady rain, falling most of the night and into the early morning hours.

And although this is (excuse the pun) just a drop in the bucket towards relieving our terrible drought, it is wonderful to see everything washed off, clean, and free of dust.

The garden is sparkling!

Colors are more intense.

It gives us hope.

Thank you for visiting, I hope you have a lovely day.

  7. STUNNING photos, Adrienne!

You are so talented! I have so much admiration for those of you with these gorgeous gardens. It is SUCH a HUGE labor of love. Pulling the weeds and administering so much TLC is so evident in your glorious slice of heaven.

Thanks for sharing it with all of us.

  9. Your garden looks lovely! I would have been interested what you discussed in class about conserving water. It's a big issue here, and we have mandatory water restrictions. Most of my plants are drought tolerant, most of them are natives or coming from other very hot countries like Australia. I water once a week if there is no rain, and always by hand, so that only the plants that need it get the water. Newly planted flowers are watered a little bit more often. We have reduced our water consumption quite a bit!

  10. ~SIGH~ Oh what a beautiful climate you live in Adrienne and what an Eden you have created in it. I sigh every time you share photos of your garden. We too have been in a drought and it isn't looking very good for this winter either as far as weather predictions go. I love rain and while we don't get much I always feel like I want to go out in it and soak it up.
I have got to go back over the beautiful photos in this post now. Beautiful my dear!
    sending hugs...
