We had these gates made a few years ago to fit between the driveway's stone pillars by a very talented local artisan after a trip to Charleston. We came home enthralled with all of the iron work we had seen there. The gates were intentionally treated to be a rusty color; I simply love them, they are one of my favorite additions to the garden. The rose, alas I don't remember the name, although as I said before it is an old fashion tea and like many of my vintage roses it probably came from the Antique Rose Emporium; they have a wonderful selection of old roses. This rose is a very large bush reaching easily from six to eight feet and blooms almost continuously.

I don't know if there is anything prettier than a rose and I must admit that pink roses are my favorite. Do you have a favorite colored rose...?

Adrienne,
ReplyDeleteThe gates are divine and the pink rose looks lovely peeking through the ironwork.
My favourite rose is Jude the Obscure...peachy yellow...the scent is intoxicating...cannot wait for this rose to bloom...it has just been pruned and now I wait!
gorgeous!!! love that gate, I love soft pink roses!!!
ReplyDeletethanks for the visit!
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI've never met a rose I didn't like. These are gorgeous photos!
ReplyDeleteI love pink roses too.....gorgeous photos, Adrienne.
ReplyDeletelove the first & third picture the best! oh! strong ironwork against the soft, luscious greenery & pink roses. what a combination. are these roses fragrant? no sun peeking through the dreary clouds yet?
ReplyDeleteYes. Beautiful juxtaposition. You are so lucky to live where roses bloom in early April. We had snow this morning. :(
ReplyDeleteOh Adrienne, such wonderful gates. I love the ironwork!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite rose (and all in all I am not too fond of roses) is a David Austen rose (English rose) called "Raubritter". It's a pink rambler that can grow BIG, HUGE. I had one in Germany that didn't do very well - it probably missed the mild weather of Southern England and didn't like the freezing German winters.
Lovely just lovely. I also really like rust.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite rose is Queen Elizabeth and it is pink. It is blooming in my garden.
The gate is so lovely. It reallly looks pretty with the roses.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite roses are red. They are so pretty. We have four white rose bushes outside our house.
I enjoy your blog posts very much.
Cara Adrienne,la tua rosa è meravigliosa ,ma sono già fiorite da te? Il cancello in ferro lo trovo un ricamo e tutto l'insieme ha un'aria così romantica! Buona Settimana ,mia cara
ReplyDeleteI love all roses. I do like that rust with the flowers. The scrollwork is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
What beautiful photos! You must save these for a banner!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous and you photography is amazing. I am a pink rose girl myself. In fact that is what I carried in my wedding bouquet with white daisies in the mix. Love your gate. When visiting N.Carolina I was fascinated with all the fences and gates. Thank you for the eye candy, Happy Sunday, Kathysue
ReplyDeleteGorgeous images, Adrienne. I want to grab my camera and go for a walk as soon as we have blooms.
ReplyDeleteI love the rust and roses!
What beautiful pictures. What a lovely way to end my night.
ReplyDeleteThe rose next to the iron gate is beautiful. I also love pink roses, but enjoy peachy pink or creamy white as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful pictures! I can understand your love for this hand made gate which, I imagine, enriches the beauty of your garden! The pink rose is also one of my favourites, but, I must say, I mostly prefer the red one.
ReplyDeleteSee you soon
Rosanna
Any rose is a beauty in my mine, but pink is the best colour, for certain! Beautiful gates!
ReplyDeleteInteresting that we both had a 'rust' theme this week.
Beautiful set of photos and mosaic. I love the pink rose. My favourite rose is New Dawn a soft delicate pink with a fragrance to die for.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog and your lovely comment on my paintings.
Pretty post ... love the fence gate. I love yellow rose the most ... but any color makes me smile! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWell, I like all colors, and all flowers, but when it comes to roses, I have to say a have a soft spot for white roses. They seem so delicate and so unique...But I too like the lavender ones (they smell amazing!) and the yellow ones. Did you know my boss used to have a rose farm, and the company used to export the most beautiful roses up the the United States? Good times! But the market came to a bad point some years ago, and it had to close. It was a great job! Now, it's all about vegetables and fruit. Equally nice!, but not fragrance from them :o)
ReplyDeletehave a lovely day!
We love pink roses at Brambly!I just wanted to stop by to tell you that you're the winner of my first giveaway!Check your email when you get a chance. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteAnn-Marie
I do have a favorite color rose...yellow ones. I love yellow. Any rose can look fabulous next to a black iron gate though. Lovely mosaic.
ReplyDeleteThe gates are amazing; how wonderful and ornate! Roses, however, are none too fond of Florida, so I am very unfamiliar with them. Your tea rose is beautiful in that setting.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite...pink, in any shade, size or shape. As I am a fan of things Victorian, I love roses against ornate metal. Your gates are quite lovely!
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful April afternoon in your breath-taking garden...
Cindy
Just beautiful! We just planted some rose bushes (two red and one white) and can't wait for them to start blooming!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness! Your roses and photos are stunning!
ReplyDeleteActually I prefer white ones.... never liked red..always thought they were to "cliche" but pink always works!
Smiles~

I love your gate, and you're so right. The rose looks so beautiful against it, so different. Gorgeous bokeh in the third photo down. Very sparkly.
ReplyDeleteI love the gate with the roses!
ReplyDeleteCarolyn
Sigh ..... Love affair here with your gorgeous gate! Soft pink or yellow roses ... my favourite!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! I have to say that pink is my favorite color of rose as well. White would be next, I think, but pink is NO. 1!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Adrienne! I love swirly iron gates. I'd have to agree, pink roses are my favorite too.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Donna
stunning collection of photos and mosaic. Thankyou for sharing this lovely corner of your garden. I love roses too and they are a favourite photography subject in my garden.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely.... a lovely iron fence and roses; so romantic! I can hardly wait to see my roses bloom... but maybe in another month... ;) Thanks for participating in our "Show Off Your Cottage Monday" and bringing us here!

ReplyDeletelovely pictures.

I want a gate like that. Sure it would look strange with the white fence, but the gate would make me happy.
ReplyDeleteLove the pink rose. I love roses. I just can't get them to grow well. Except for Knock out roses. I have yellow, red and pink. I'll probably be tempted by another rose bush this spring.
Bonjour,
