A bit of this and that ~

I thought I would take a little time away from Thanksgiving preparations to share a few fun things.

Now that the cooler weather has arrived I have been experiencing a little 'boot mania'. I knew that I wanted a new pair of boots this year and if possible a pair of booties. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how the budget thinks of it I found both. I mean really, could you turn these down? And they were on my master shopping list. I was a little skeptical about the booties but with the addition of leggings I really like the way they look with short dresses and skirts and they are so comfortable.

Now.... onto something different. I reserved both of these books from my local library. Lately there seems to be a plethora of wonderful books written about all things French...so far I have enjoyed  every one, it's just so much fun learning about a culture that derives so much pleasure from the ascetics, beauty, and enjoyment of the everyday; so très charmant et chic. So here are two more to add to the list ~ they are both excellent, fun, reads full of good information and interesting ideas.

I don't know how many of you are looking for the perfect mascara but I have found mine:  'They're Real' by Benefit. Perhaps it is the shape of the brush which allow you to reach every little lash, or maybe the formula, whichever, it does an amazing transformation on stubby, thin lashes...they really do appear almost unreal and who doesn't want luxurious eyelashes. I purchased mine at Sephora and as a bonus the full size tube came with a small tube, perfect to keep in your purse or for travel.

Lastly, I leave you with a picture of my pink camellias which apparently don't realize it is fall and have already started blooming. Their delicate fragility is so lovely and unexpected amongst the more intense colors of the season. These are very old bushes and I forget about them through the year, then they surprise me with their beauty.

Nothing about the up-coming holiday here but I hope your plans are going well for a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Thank you for visiting, I hope you will come back again soon.

  1. Oh I love your boots...where did you find them?
I read Jennifer L. Scott's book and found it very helpful when planning a minimalist wardrobe.
Like you I love to read about French fashion and style.
It is timely that you post about mascara as mine Lancome is at the end of the tube and I was looking at the wand and wondering if there might be one that dispensed the mascara a little more evenly...perhaps they sell Benefit in Canada...fingers crossed that they will!
    Have a lovely weekend Adrienne!

  3. Wish that I could wear mascara, but I am so allergic to make up and can only wear a little eye shadow and that bothers me sometime.
Love the boots. I need to get a pair for this winter. Marshalls has some great shoes/boots.
Your camellias are so pretty. I have two bushes but they are not ready to bloom yet. Mine are quite old also.
    Have a great weekend.

  4. Oh my goodness. So much eye candy in this post. I'm sure you model those boots so well. Enjoy your beautiful flowers. You always take the best pictures. It's snowing like crazy in West MI today. We left sunny FL behind yesterday and came home to temps in the 20s. BRRRRRR.

  5. Your boots look like they were made for walking. Now you're set for the winter, although from your beautiful camellia photo, it looks more like its still summer there. So nice to see your green when all is barren and bitter cold here. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

  6. The camellias are delightful! It's funny, but I was thinking about boots this year too. I used to wear a lot of skirts and loved the look. I love your choice! I know you will enjoy them!
