The last of the roses.
The rain and frost seem only to have increased their beauty.
The annual pruning of the garden is underway, When I came across these I hated to cut them, but it needed to be done.
Hopefully next spring they will be in full bloom again and lovelier than ever. One of the glories of gardening is watching the waning and renewal. In our warmer climate it isn't as dramatic as those in colder areas. Even so, for the next few months my Southern California garden will look very bare with just a few winter annuals to fill in the emptiest spots. and then...
Voila
Spring will arrive!
Oh, Adrienne, those are the most beautiful roses and I love how you have arranged them. Just gorgeous. I do miss the warmer winter days of the Bay Area for that reason..Happy Wednesday..Judy
Gros bisous ♡
Before I write another line I have to let you know how beautiful I find your header. I think that I must tell you each time I comment, and then I forget. It is absolutely lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe roses - gorgeous. They are just what roses should be. On the weekend as I walked with my wee Rory I saw roses blooming over a fence. They must have been sheltered just enough to be spared the frost we had earlier this month.
They are so pretty. I have one lonely little knock out rose bush in our back yard. Hoping to add more in the spring.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYour roses are so beautiful! Lush and full and full of colour - I hope they are scented, too.
ReplyDeleteWow those are gorgeous!! ~ I can't wait to see what the roses around our cottage look like after winter the landscaping is kind of wild and not been tended to and it seems like everything has thorns here. Just yesterday I was walking in our village and my hat got caught on a bush and I couldn't get it off hahah It was rather comical thankfully my daughter unhooked me lol ~Heather
ReplyDeleteThose roses are beautiful - I love the combination of warm yellow and pink. I'm actually looking for a rose like that to plant in my backyard. My garden loves all the rain we're having. Last year's poppies have reseeded and I'm pulling poppies all the time in areas where they're smothering other plants. Once it's done I think it will look lovely.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photograph and the roses are divine! I know what you mean about pruning the rose bushes.
