I like to use old mailboxes in the garden, not only can they be handy storage places but I think they are very charming, this one stands just below my deck, outside of the backdoor. I have painted it my signature red color, it has been here for a while so it is a little worn, but I think that only adds to the charm.
Now usually you will only find bits and pieces of gardening needs such as extra secateurs, twine, hand trowels, and maybe a sprinkler head in my mailboxes but once in a while it is nice to open it and find some items of interest and beauty. After all one never knows what might creep into these places unawares!
Au revoir little friend, I hope that you come and visit me again soon. You are always welcome.
And so my blogging friends are you!this post has been linked to: http://anoregoncottage.blogspot.com/, http://fishtailcottage.blogspot.com/
Oh Adrienne, this is so sweet! I love the color combination of the red and the yellow, it looks gorgeous next to each other. The idea to put mailboxes around the garden and store garden tools in them is brilliant - I have to remember that!
ReplyDeleteAs always, your pictures take me away to a beautiful place!! :)

ReplyDeleteWhat pretty photos these are! I love the red with the yellow, it seems so bright and summery.
ReplyDeleteThe yellow flowers go very well with the red mailbox. The photographs that you took are beautiful as well.
ReplyDeleteYou have a very nice blog. :)
Our black-eyed susans have just started sprouting up everywhere, a real sign of mid-summer. How on earth did you get that last shot, it's incredible!
ReplyDeleteYour mailboxes are the perfect addition to your gardens. I'll have to share this post with Chris again too. Our black-eyes susans and purple cone flowers are very happy in our heat right now. It's definitely August when I see those flowers. Beautiful pictures once again.
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous composition. Love, love, love these photos. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous Adrienne. I love this idea and I love the floral vignette you created!
ReplyDeleteEven the rudbeckias are dying off here in the terrible heatwave. Lovely photos, the first is my favorite, beautiful color and light.
ReplyDeleteAdrienne, I love the red mail box in the garden and it looks wonderful with the yellow Rudbeckias! Lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! The pictures are perfect...I love the little things you tucked inside!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI visited your blog today, and I thought it was so pretty and charming. We are Southern California gals also! While I was reading, I noticed that I have alot of the same interests as you. I love gardening, fashion, and photography. I smiled when I saw the picture of the mailbox because my daughter, Jess, took a picture of a mailbox that is very similar to that one, and I didn't know how I was going to use it on a post. Me and my daughters just started a new blog, and we would love it if you could visit us and follow. I would enjoy coming back to visit with another So. California gal, and see all your beautiful ideas. Hope to hear from you, and have sweet day.

What lovely flowers with the bright red mailbox! I wonder if these Rudbeckias could withstand the kind of heat we're dealing with in Texas! It's brutal.
ReplyDeleteColorful and very striking red with bright yellow.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of putting old mailboxes in in garden. I am on the lookout for one now. The yellow is beautiful. Yellow butterflies are my favorite but I have only seen three this year. I wonder why?
ReplyDeleteSmiles, Dottie
Now that's beautifully creative! Love the rustic mailbox next to the Rudbekia! They do thrive in the summertime! Yours are lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this with A Return to Loveliness,
Kathy
Adrienne,
ReplyDeleteI love your Rudbeckias with the mailbox - what a great combination! Perfect for summertime.
What a pretty combination, the mustard yellow and the brick red together.
ReplyDeleteDo you have your mail delivered in that metal mail box or is it a decorative object only?
I love this idea as well--I have a mailbox in my garden that is painted a deep turquoise blue to match the accent color of our house, and in it I store small gardening tools. Mine is located at the front of the house by a sweet bay laurel tree and red currant shrub, and this helps so that I don't have to always run to the backyard potting shed to grab the tools that I need. I love that yours is bright red, and I love the flowers and little bird inside!
ReplyDeleteI love the red mailbox and yellow rudbeckias together. ::Jill
ReplyDeleteA beautiful Rustic looking Summer setting... perfect pops of bold color!

ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! I have a mailbox beside my deck, too. Mine does not look nearly as pretty when you open the door! What a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI love your photos!! Your Rudbeckia is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! They should be on greeting cards

ReplyDeleteBlack eyed Susans are one of my favorites too. We have some in our yard but love them against that red mailbox. Thanks for the inspiration. Mimi
ReplyDeleteI love your decorated mail box, very nice.the pictures you took are very nice too!
ReplyDeleteI'm completely charmed by your post box Adrienne! I don't have one yet, but I've been on the lookout to use one wherever, inside or out. Your photos in the garden are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! The bright red mailbox and the rudbeckias look so charming together. The little surprise INSIDE the mailbox is delightful, as well. Flowers and birds - two of my favorite things. ;)
