I have had this old sewing basket for a while...don't remember where I got it, it is fully lined and I like the attached lid.
Some of the edgings here will eventally trim sheets and towels...ahhh, such luxery.
These beautiful roses, for those gardeners out there, are the glorious David Austin rose Tamara, such a wonderful color and so dependable with their bloom.
Roses and lace, what a marvelous combination.
Thank you for visiting. I hope that you have a bit of something frivolous like lace in your life.

Beautiful, Adrienne. You are inspiring me to add lace to the dining room. Can't wait to get started on the project.:-)
ReplyDeleteMany moons ago, when I managed a bookstore in Philadelphia, before becoming a butler, I used to eat at a Greek fast food stand. It was family-owned and run. The lady behind the counter, in her spare time, was always crocheting lace, from the finest threads I'd ever seen. And she was doing it without looking, just her hands click-clacking away making the most extraordinary lace. I'll never forget it. There was also an Italian tailor in the building who was most impressive. Oh, and of course, my Greek seamstress, she too could do anything with a needle and thread.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!

Gorgeous little details. What a beautiful project. I can't wait to see your pull-down shades.
ReplyDeleteHello Adrienne:
ReplyDeleteWell, we could not possibly make anything like these wonderful lace edgings. So delicate and pretty and, as you say, can be used to trim all manner of items which will definitely give them that very special touch.
The David Austin Rose looks wonderful. We love the way that these particular roses have the old-fashioned 'cabbage' look but the modern good habits of strong and healthy growth.
Ah...wonderful...roses and lace are wonderful! I can't wait to see your finished project!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely. Your talents seem never ending. Looking forward to seeing it when it's completed. I am sure it will be beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLace really is a luxury - but lace curtains have gone out of style and one sees very little lace on lingerie anymore. I have a stash, but would very much like to be able to make my own trim for pillows and sheets.
ReplyDeleteseeing the crocheted lace, instantly reminded me of the sound of my mother-in-law's needles clicking away on her projects! and the color of the roses are exquisite!
ReplyDeleteOh those are beautiful!! both the lace and the roses I have never seen roses that color so pretty ....Roses are my favorite flower :) and The Lace wow I just love seeing handwork like that so intricate! Ha your sweet saying it is so easy ....Oh I am all thumbs when it comes to knitting or crochet no matter how many times my grandmother or mother show me I fumble it ~I am in awe though your handwork is lovely can't wait to see the completed project and more pictures of your beautiful home!! ~Love Heather
ReplyDeleteYour work, both lace and roses, is beautiul. My mother was a crocheting machine and she did beautiful work. I too, was always in awe of that one string winding off the spool coming out the other end something of beauty.
ReplyDeleteYou are a talented lady.
Have a great week.
Ginger

Oh how I recall my Grandma's shades..they had a great round circle with lace all around them. I would play with her shades and she just let me pull them up and down. I do believe it was the lace that I loved (and of course my Grandma)..Thanks..
ReplyDeleteI, too, absolutely adore lace of ALL varieties, Adrienne. Hubby thinks I have an addiction where collecting it is concerned. lol
ReplyDeleteYour lace and roses images are just beautiful. And your fall blog banner is so festive. ;)
