Pumpkins 2018 ~

Last year I decided to paint a picture of a pumpkin. I hadn't painted for a while, so long in fact that some of my paints had dried up in the tubes. The picture below is the result. I put it on the kitchen counter and enjoyed it through Halloween and Thanksgiving as part of my fall decorations.

I had so much pleasure with the activity last year that I decided to try it again. This is my version of pumpkins for 2018. Maybe next year, if I do this again, I should mix it up a bit and add some other type of gourds...we will see.

Like before, I slipped this into a temporary frame and put it in the kitchen. It adds seasonal cheer for the holidays. After Thanksgiving to make way for my Christmas decorations I will put it away until next autumn.

I love fall, the weather is cooler, there is much to plant in the garden and the light makes everything look better. I have enjoyed my attempts to capture a bit of it on canvas.

I hope you have a glorious day.

Thank you for visiting.

Adrienne

    1. As you well know, as I you also paint, it is a really fun hobby and something that I enjoy, especially on these long winter nights. I can't imagine anyone interested in buying anything that I would do. Good thing because it takes me so long to get a painting finished! But thank you for the very nice compliment. Incidentally, I love the paintings you have done of roses.

How long does it take to complete a painting like this?

    1. Thank you for the lovely compliment. It takes me a long time to complete a painting as I am very critical and spend a lot of time just mulling over and then correcting. But eventually I get something finished and I really enjoy the process, that, and pleasing myself, is probably the most important thing. I am sure that if you tried you would enjoy and be happy with the results. It's a fun hobby.

  7. Adrienne, I can't tell you how beautiful your paintings are. I envy your talent. Anybody can make a velvet pumpkin but to paint like you do is a rare gift. Happy Thanksgiving..xxoJudy

  8. Your painting is absolutely beautiful Adrienne! I love both paintings and it's wonderful that you are painting again. My paints and brushes have been in the drawers for so long that I'm sure they will be no good like you found yours to be. You inspire me to want to get them out and see!

I loved seeing your beautiful Autumn garden once again.
    sending hugs....
